The 2023 Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales are almost over and ecommerce data is starting to trickle in. Looking at the SEO and SEM data for many of my clients we see a few different trends that online marketers should start looking into.
Previous To Black Friday Sales Data
From the data we are seeing, people saved their money in October and spent in November. In the last few years we have seen Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales change from week to week and with stores keeping their best deals hidden until Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This condition many people not to but until Black Friday and Cyber Monday but the sales did not change.
Big Box Stores Effects On Online Shopping
Many of the big stores this year started running Black Friday sales around Veterans Days and the sales did not change. Stores like Target and Best Buy started their Black Friday sales and kept the sales the same. There were no huge door busters, there was no reason to camp out and there was no reason so go stand in line at 3 am.
In previous years the big stores will start their Black Friday sales early but they tend to release the biggest sales closest to the actual Black Friday day. But this year was different, many of the big stores kept their sales the same and because of this many people did not buy previous to Black Friday.

SEO & SEM Black Friday & Cyber Monday Performance
Many of our SEO and SEM clients was a big jump on Black Friday. We saw a slow start to the month but a big jump on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We believe most people waiting till Black Friday and Cyber Monday to make their purchases. Versus what many retailers were hope to have a consistent sales with their consisting Black Friday sale. But it seemed like the public was trained to wait until Black Friday to shop.
With some of our clients getting a 20 to 1 ROI return just on Friday. We did see cost per click increase by about 10% as well as our cost per conversion. Traffic increased, sales increased and overall many of our clients had a successful shopping season.
MORE TO COME AS MORE DATA COME IN.
