Year – Make – Model? Make – Model – Year? Model – Make – Year?
I have worked with many automotive companies in the past from small online stores to websites and store fronts that do over $1 Million is monthly sales. Overlanding, OEM Parts, Seat Covers, 4×4 accessories, Semi-Truck parts, you name is I have probably delt with it.
SEO For The Automotive Industry
Year – Make – Model is the key to a successful SEO strategy. Most people will search for Year – Make – Model of their car parts or accessories. This means your title tags should reflect this. When creating SEO title tags and setting up your website always keep Year – Make – Model in the back of your head. Additional people further down the conversions funnel will search for part numbers or product SKUs. Making sure you have part numbers or brands in your title tag and on you web pages.

SEM For The Automotive Industry
The more I do SEM work for the auto industry the more I start to lean toward price competitiveness. Within the auto industry there is MAP pricing where we can not go below a certain price. Minimum Advertised Price or MAP is the lowest price at which a retailer can advertise a particular product. So it tends to be harder to be price competitive but there are always work arounds with in Google Ads.
Case Study
We have had several automotive companies come to us for help when it comes to SEM & SEO because their previous agency was not cutting it. Recently we took on a client that was spending $3K a month and was only making $2K. They specialize in OEM and replacement auto parts. With in 3 months we were able to increase the clients spend to $20K per month and now they are making over $100K per month.
The key to success was going back and reworking the product pages to be more Year – Make – Model keyword heavy and being price competitive.
We took over the client on August 1st and by October 31st we have completely changed the account around. By November the client was ready for the Holiday push and we can say we had a very successful Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
November – $33,792.95 spent with 812.85 conversions and $216,047.50 in revenue
October – $17,825.20 spent with 559.5 conversions and $98,833.94 in revenue
September – $7,224.68 spent with 278.06 conversions and $43,032.40 in revenue
August – $9,332.39 spent with 350.63 conversions and $63,332.99 in revenue
July – $2,519.30 spent with 102.18 conversions and $1,565.80 in revenue
In Google Ads for November, we saw an increase in spending by +96.8% with conversions increasing by +49.4% and revenue increasing by +123.3%. We beat our 6 to 1 ROI goal for November and ended the month with a 6.39 compared to October’s 5.54 ROI, a +13.4% increase.
